What this calculator does

How it works
Future value is estimated with compound depreciation: `current value x (1 - annual depreciation rate) ^ years`. The mileage adjustment adds or subtracts percentage points from the annual rate before the calculation.
Example calculation
For a 30,000 car depreciating at 15% per year over 5 years, the estimated future value is about 13,311. The estimated value lost is about 16,689.
