Intro
Use this stock profit / loss calculator to estimate gross profit, net profit, return percentage, and break-even exit price for a stock trade.
What this calculator does
Enter entry price, exit price, quantity, and buy/sell fees. The calculator shows the net profit or loss after fees and the exit price needed to break even.
How it works
Gross profit is (exit price - entry price) x quantity. Net profit is gross profit - buy fee - sell fee. Return percentage compares net profit with the entry cost plus buy fee.
Example calculation
If you buy 100 shares at 20 and sell them at 24, gross profit is 400. With 5 buy fee and 5 sell fee, net profit is 390.
How to use the result
Use the result to compare planned and completed trades. Remember that slippage, spreads, taxes, exchange fees, and currency conversion can change real outcomes. This calculator is for education and planning, not financial advice.
Assumptions and limitations
- Taxes and financing costs are not included.
- Fees are entered manually.
- It works for fractional quantities if your broker supports them.
FAQs
- The break-even price includes both entered fees.
- A negative result means the exit value and fees are below the entry cost.
- For risk planning before a trade, use the position size and risk/reward calculators.
