# Password Generator
Use this password generator to create a random password with the length and character sets you choose.
What this tool does
Choose a password length, decide whether to include lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols, then press Generate password. The generated password appears on the page with a copy button.
How character sets affect the result
Longer passwords are harder to guess because there are more possible combinations. Adding more character sets also increases the pool of possible characters, although some websites limit which symbols they accept.
The ambiguous-character option removes characters that are easy to confuse when typed or read aloud, such as 0, O, 1, I, and l.
Example use
For a new online account, choose at least 16 characters, keep all character sets enabled, generate a password, copy it, and save it in a password manager.
How to use the result
Use each generated password for one account only. Reusing the same password across accounts means one breach can put other accounts at risk.
Assumptions and limitations
Passwords are generated in your browser and are not stored by Calcul8. The strength summary is a rough estimate based on length and character-pool size, not a security audit.
Use a trusted password manager to store passwords. Do not paste generated passwords into shared documents, chat messages, or places where other people can read them.
FAQs
Is the password sent to Calcul8?
No. The password is generated on the page in your browser.
Why avoid ambiguous characters?
Ambiguous characters can be mistaken for each other when a password is typed manually. Turning this option on can make passwords easier to read, but it slightly reduces the character pool.
Is this a password strength checker?
No. Version one generates passwords. It does not inspect existing passwords or check whether a password has appeared in a breach.
